Independent source-based analysis. Research reviewed November 1, 2026. Questions and hypothetical examples below are editorial tools; they are not findings of misconduct. This publication is not affiliated with Carroll Insurance or David B. Carroll.

A timeline helps readers understand Carroll Insurance without compressing decades of company history into the biography of one executive. Agency milestones, leadership statements and website observations should occupy separate lanes.

Carroll’s official homepage dates the company’s founding to 1980. Read the source.

Separate company history from personal history

The founding date belongs to the organisation. It does not imply that a current leader founded the business or held the same role throughout its history. Likewise, the date a page was retrieved is not the date an event occurred. Confusing those dates produces convincing-looking but unreliable timelines.

Use three fields for every entry: event date, publication date and retrieval date. If only a year is available, keep the precision at year level. Attach the original page to the entry and describe the event narrowly. A membership announcement is a network milestone; it is not proof of an acquisition, licence renewal or ownership transfer.

Questions to put in the file

  1. Is this milestone about the company, a person or an outside organisation?
  2. Does the source give an event date or merely a publication date?
  3. Are there unsupported gaps between verified entries?
  4. Can a reader reach the underlying source from the timeline?

A practical worksheet

Record-building checklist
Field What to record
1980 Founding year stated on the official homepage
April 2025 BAN membership announcement and professional title
Research date When the linked sources were checked

Worked example

A minimal timeline can include the founding year stated on the company website and the separately dated 2025 BAN announcement. A November 2026 review of those pages is an observation, not a new corporate event. Keep unknown leadership-transition dates out of the chronology until an attributable source supports them. An honest two-entry timeline is better than a detailed speculative one.

What readers can take from this

A timeline should reveal the limits of the record as clearly as its milestones. Add entries when new sources justify them, and preserve earlier versions when correcting dates.

Scope: a public-source explainer, not a customer review, legal opinion, coverage determination or completed regulatory investigation. Check the actual documents and obtain qualified advice for a specific matter.

Source and verification limits

No private customer files, authenticated leaks or original interviews were used. A public-search gap does not establish that a record does not exist.
